The Maltese and Gozitan people are still being denied the truth about the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia, the PN said.

"Eight years after her murder, her relatives, friends, and all those who admired her continue to be left without justice. Whenever Robert Abela and his Ministers are asked about this assassination, they conveniently refer to the Public Inquiry and claim that there are individuals currently facing legal proceedings in connection with the case."

"This offers no form of comfort to Daphne Caruana Galizia's family or to the public, and it certainly does not constitute justice. The Public Inquiry was concluded more than four years ago, and to this day the Government has failed to implement its recommendations. The same Inquiry found the Government guilty of creating a culture of impunity that led to the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia."

 The PN said it recalls that in their conclusions, "the three Judges who led the Inquiry into the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia stated the following:'...there is nothing to indicate that the assassination did not occur for reasons directly linked to the investigations which Mrs Caruana Galizia was carrying out into serious allegations of bad public administration, abuse of power and corruption'."

 "If the Government led by Robert Abela truly wishes to distance itself from the Government led by his predecessor - if he does not wish to remain under its shadow - he must immediately ensure that all the recommendations of the Public Inquiry are implemented in full," the PN said.

The PN maintains that unless this is done, the Maltese people can never be guaranteed that this Government will not once again allow the assassination of another journalist - as was found to have happened by the Judges in the case of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
