On Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 October, St Lawrence Church, Vittoriosa, will be welcoming the Irish choir Enchiriadis, who will be singing at the Saturday 6 pm Mass and the Sunday 11 am Mass. The Irish Ambassador to Malta, Her Excellency Caroline Whelan, will attend the choir's Sunday performance. The choir's visit to Malta is supported by the Embassy of Ireland, Malta.
Enchiriadis Choir is based in Dublin, Ireland and comprises over 100 members led by Musical Director Cathal Clinch and accompanist Jillian Saunders. Cathal and Jillian, along with 50 of the choir's members, will be travelling to Malta to perform at St Lawrence Church.
Enchiriadis was formed in 1994 by Dr Marion Hayden Doherty. In addition to sacred music, the choir also has a repertoire of secular classical and contemporary works.
Enchiriadis' motto is "Excellence Through Performance", and over the past 30 years, the choir has continued to grow and thrive. Today, Enchiriadis is recognised as one of Ireland's leading choral ensembles, performing in prestigious Irish venues such as the National Concert Hall, The Helix and the Convention Centre, as well as in many other locations throughout Europe. Locally, it remains a firm favourite in its hometown of Malahide, particularly for its concerts in Seabury Church.
The Choir is greatly looking forward to its visit to Malta and to performing in the historic surroundings of St Lawrence Church.
