The Department of Public Works has completed another regeneration project, this time, in the pedestrian area known as Tal-Qares in Mosta. For many years, this area, which surrounds the Chapel of St Andrew, had been neglected and frequently experienced flooding problems after bouts of rain.

Today, thanks to the intervention and work of the Department of Public Works in collaboration with the Mosta Local Council, the area has been transformed into a pedestrian zone equipped with new benches, intelligent lighting that complements the chapel's architecture, and the planting of new trees.

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia remarked that this regeneration project joins other recent initiatives carried out by the Department of Public Works in Pjazza t-Torri and Triq Kurat Calleja in Mosta, in Triq Sciortino in Ħaż-Żebbuġ, and in Trejqet is-6 ta' Novembru, 559 in Ħal Kirkop.

"In recent months, we have seen that active and ongoing dialogue with local councils and the communities that bring life to our localities has been strengthened and put into practice. We listened to residents who wanted more regenerated pedestrian spaces where they could spend time relaxing with their families. In fact, in this area of Mosta, which had been abandoned for many years, we are now giving back a more beautiful and safer pedestrian zone for the residents," concluded Parliamentary Secretary Farrugia.

The Mayor of Mosta, Joseph Gatt, explained how projects like the one carried out in this area of Mosta give a new look and dimension to the environment in which residents live. "These are projects that residents and the community appreciate because they provide a more beautiful and safer environment."
