A 71-year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident at 12:30 PM, the Police said.

The traffic incident occurred on Triq San Tumas, Luqa.

The Police went to the scene, and from a preliminary investigation, it resulted that a collision occurred between a DAF 85 truck, driven by a 40-year-old man from Qormi, and a Toyota Yaris, driven by a 37-year-old woman from Żurrieq.

In the Toyota, there was also a 70-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman, both residents of Żurrieq.

A medical team was called to the scene to assist, and ambulances took all the people in the Toyota to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Later, the 71-year-old woman was confirmed to have sustained serious injuries, while the condition of the other two is still pending.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia was informed of the case and has appointed an inquiry.

The Police investigations into this incident are ongoing.
