Msida Local Council left in the dark on pedestrian bridge announcement

The Msida Local Council has requested an urgent meeting with the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Chris Bonett, noting that it was "completely unaware" about the pedestrian bridge announced by Minister Bonett on Thursday till it was made public.

The Infrastructure Minister stated on Thursday that a new pedestrian bridge will be constructed in Msida, linking the two sides of Msida and aiming to improve safety and mobility for the hundreds of students and residents who cross the area daily.  This project was announced during a meeting between Minister Bonett and the recently elected Junior College Students' Council (KSJC). The proposal had been highlighted in student organisation Pulse's electoral manifesto, leading the council to raise it soon after taking office.

"The Council cannot accept that residents are not consulted on developments of this nature, which are announced overnight, and it would have expected at the very least to be informed beforehand," the Msida Local Council stated.

The local council hopes for Minister Bonett to discuss this pedestrian bridge with it "as soon as possible."
