A new collective agreement between the Land Authority and the General Worker's Union (GWU) will benefit around 200 employees through wage increases and the introduction of new allowances, government officials announced.

The agreement, covering the period 2025-2028, was signed in the presence of Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici, Permanent Secretary Joyce Cassar and Permanent Secretary Kevin Mahoney. According to the government, the deal aims to enhance workers' financial packages while also providing clearer guidance on working conditions.

Minister Bonnici said the agreement reflects the government's commitment to investing in its workforce by ensuring fair and appropriate remuneration. He added that beyond financial aspects, the updated conditions are intended to support future career development and serve as a model for upcoming employees.

Lands Authority Chief Executive Robert Vella described the agreement as a significant step in the Authority's ongoing development, noting that it follows months of constructive dialogue with the GWU. He said the improved conditions acknowledge the daily dedication and contribution of employees and reinforce the organisation's commitment to a modern and supportive working environment.

GWU General Secretary Josef Bugeja highlighted that the union signed two agreements on the day-one for professionals and another for technicians and administrators. He said the improved conditions offer workers clearer direction, more opportunities to develop their skills and a stronger sense of professionalism and fairness within the Authority.
