A creativity competition has been launched across primary, middle and secondary schools as part of the We Have a Dream: A Future Without Violence campaign, organized by the Commission on Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence, the Parliamentary Secretariat for Equality and Reforms led by Rebecca Buttigieg, and the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation headed by Minister Clifton Grima.

The initiative aims to encourage students to reflect on the importance of safe and respectful relationships, with themes centred on dignity and consent. Students may submit entries in various categories, including art, writing, design , technology and media.

During the launch at St Nicholas College Middle School in Rabat, Parliamentary Secretary Rebecca Buttigieg said the campaign seeks to promote a culture of zero tolerance towards domestic violence. She encouraged students to participate, noting that young people will play a key role in shaping a future without violence.

Commissioner for Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence Samantha Pace Gasan also led a workshop with students, discussing healthy relationships and gathering their ideas for the competition.

As part of the campaign, teddy bears symbolising safety and comfort were distributed in PSCD classrooms and school counselling rooms.

The initiative is intended to help children feel more comfortable speaking with educators and professionals, particularly those who may be experiencing domestic violence. These actions form part of the Third National Strategy on Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence (2023-2028).
