Transport Minister Chris Bonett has tabled a one-page technical document about the material used to cover the Ta' Qali picnic area, following renewed parliamentary questions about the quality of the gravel and sand laid on-site.

The information was requested by PN MP Rebekah Borg, who asked the Minister to respond to an earlier parliamentary question and to provide full technical documentation on the material used in resurfacing the picnic area.

Her question formed part of an ongoing controversy surrounding the gravel and sand mixture spread across zone, which has prompted criticism.

In his reply, Bonett said he was tabling the requested document in Parliament.

The document - which consists of a single-page declaration - outlines the material type, but does not include broader testing, certification, or environmental analysis.

The material listed was called 'Sand Low Fines (0/4),' originating from the quarry Thisvi in the  Municipality in Greece, the document said.

The one-page document declared the sand material as suitable for use in landscaping works, outdoor green space, parks, and/or is suitable to be mixed with organic soil material.

The document was signed by the Quarry Manager from where the material was derived.
