A 15-year-old girl admitted to slightly injuring another student.

The incident had occurred earlier this week at St Nicholas College facilities at 10.30am.

The minor appeared before the court on Friday, accompanies by her father.

The court heard that the victim had gone to the police station in Rabat with her father later in the day after the incident, and reported that when walking down a corridor in school, the accused approached her and punched her in the nose. A medical certificate confirming the slight injury was presented.

The prosecution said that the aggressor grabbed the girl's schoolbag and threw her onto the floor. CCTV footage was obtained and an arrest warrant issued.

The Defence noted that the accused intends to file a counter-report alleging that the alleged victim had made threats and insults on previous occasions.

The accused admitted to the charges. The court issued an order for a pre-sentencing report, and directed the Director of Probation and Parole to assess the minor before sentencing.

A request for release for arrest was made, and bail was granted against a €500 deposit and a €3,500 personal guarantee. Conditions include a curfew requiring her to be home by 9:00pm and not leave before 6:30am and mandatory signing at the Rabat Police Station every Saturday between 8:00am and 8:00pm. She is prohibited from contacting the victim.

The accused was represented by lawyer Nicholas Mifsud, and Inspector Cheyenne Mangion prosecuted.
