The Gozo Regional Development Authority has launched a new three-year Corporate Plan aimed at strengthening mobility, connectivity and socio-economic development, a government statement said.
Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri addressed a Business Breakfast themed 'Connections, Plans and Priorities', organised by the Gozo Regional Development Authority (GRDA), which brought together Gozitan social partners.
Camilleri said that the GRDA has not only continued strengthening its position in Gozo, but has also demonstrated its relevance in the island's socio-economic context through a substantial number of studies, some of which have led to policy changes and adjustments in how certain services operate.
He said that the strategy 'Gozo: Island of Villages' has provided a clear vision for Gozo for the coming years, placing the island in the dimension it deserves, as there is a shared understanding that Gozo's needs differ from those of Malta.
Camilleri said that the authority implemented no less than 93% of its previous three-year Corporate Plan and expressed confidence that the new Corporate Plan, launched during the Business Breakfast, will be implemented just as effectively.
"I am convinced that just as the GRDA has done over the last five years, it will continue doing in the future, by presenting well-studied and objective proposals that truly translate into change and improvements that benefit all Gozo residents," he said.
CEO of the GRDA Ivan Falzon gave an overview of the Authority's work over the past year, speaking of the initiatives that were done, and presented the newly launched Corporate Plan covering the next three years.
Falzon said that many of the measures in the updated plan include initiatives on mobility and strengthened connectivity.
The Business Breakfast was also addressed by the Head of Unit at the National Statistics Office Marice Grech, Chief Credit Officer at the Malta Development Bank Maria Xuereb, and Senior Manager within the GRDA Juergen Attard.
The event formed part of the authority's strategy to maintain regular contact with its partners and keep them updated on all ongoing work.
