Friday, 5 December 2025, 10:27 Last update: about 10 months ago

The Nationalist Party's Executive Committee approved four additional candidates for the upcoming general election on Thursday evening, the party said Friday.

The approved candidates are: Annabelle Cilia for the Sixth Electoral District; Paul Mazzola for the Seventh Electoral District; Anton Mifsud for the Seventh Electoral District; and Alex Perici Calascione for the Ninth Electoral District

Annabelle Cilia, a young mother, will be contesting a general election for the first time. She currently serves as President of the Moviment Solidarjetà Ħaddiema Partit Nazzjonalista.

Paul Mazzola previously contested the 2017 general election with the PN and currently serves as a PN councillor on the Ħaż-Żebbuġ Local Council.

Anton Mifsud also already contested a general election with the PN, the 2022 general election. He is the former Mayor of Mtarfa and a current PN councillor on the same council. He also previously served as President of the Northern Region.

Alex Perici Calascione is the party's deputy leader.

During the meeting, PN Leader Alex Borg thanked the approved candidates, as well as others who have already expressed interest in forming part of the Partit Nazzjonalista's team for the next general election and who will be approved in the coming weeks and months.

Yesterday's approvals form part of the ongoing process launched in recent months to finalise all PN candidates who will contest the upcoming general election.

With the four new candidates approved yesterday, the total number of approved candidates has now reached 25. The team includes new faces, experienced candidates who previously contested with the PN, women, young people, as well as a number of candidates from Gozo.
