Prime Minister Robert Abela visited various places in Gozo where preparations are being made for the Christmas festivities, the government said.

A government statement said that the visit brought together the dedication of workers, the success of businesses, and the beauty of traditions that give identity to the country.

During his first visit to the Gozo Maintenance Directorate, Abela met workers who are currently engaged in various projects to create decorations that adorn the streets and embellish the island of Gozo.

It said that these works are giving the island a unique appearance and further strengthening the Christmas atmosphere across all Gozitan communities.

Abela then visited Savina, where he observed the preparation of artisanal gifts made from Gozitan products.

Some of these locally produced items, used to create the handcrafted gifts, will be presented by Abela to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV and to several international leaders during official visits in the coming days.

The visit to Gozo continued at another prominent Gozitan business, Vini e Capricci, a company forming part of Abraham Holdings, where activity was in full swing.

The Prime Minister spoke of the strong commercial performance during the festive season, as he toured the offices and warehouses, where numerous workers were busy packing hampers and other products typically sold during this period.

In both companies, the dedication of Gozitan workers stood out, with businesses continuing to grow and meet strong demand, particularly during the festive season, the statement said.

Following this, Abela then visited the cultural heart of Gozo, where in Xagħra, he met Aaron Agius, a nativity enthusiast who, together with his children, dedicates his time to building an artistic crib for the enjoyment of the community.

The visit concluded at the M.U.S.E.U.M. in Nadur, where Abela admired a spectacular nativity scene crafted with great skill by internationally recognised artist Jean Paul Portelli.

At the end of the visit, Abela spoke about the unique spirit of Gozo.

"Today we saw Gozo full of life, with all its characteristics. On one hand, we have innovative businesses creating wealth and jobs, and on the other, the heart of artists and volunteers who keep our identity alive. It is this balance between progress and tradition that makes Christmas in Gozo such a special experience," Abela said.
