A woman has died after the bike she was riding was involved in a collision with a car early this morning, the police said.

The woman, a Colombian aged 31, was riding a TVS Jupiter which was involved in a crash with a Kia Picanto driven by a 21-year-old man from Marsaskala.

She was given first assistance by a medical team but died soon afterwards, the police said.

She was later identified as Angie Marlen Mesa Gonzalez, who was employed at a pizzeria.

The accident took place at 3am in Mikiel Anton Vassalli Road.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
