After nearly 20 years of broadcasting from its original premises, community radio station Radju Leonardo 105.2FM in Kirkop has relocated to a new site within the village, largely thanks to voluntary work carried out by members of the Għaqda Mużikali San Leonardu and a €20,000 grant from the Voluntary Organisations Projects Scheme (VOPS) for 2025.

The scheme, administered by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) within the Ministry for Inclusion and Volunteering, supported a total of 48 voluntary organisations during 2025, with an overall investment of €800,000.

The new premises were inaugurated by Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia, who described the project as further evidence of the crucial role played by voluntary organisations in daily community life and across all sectors of society. She noted that the community radio station not only disseminates information about the activities of the Għaqda Mużikali San Leonardu, but also serves as a source of comfort and companionship for individuals who, due to life circumstances, are unable to participate regularly in community activities.

President of the Għaqda Mużikali San Leonardu, Louis Zammit, thanked Minister Farrugia for the financial support and outlined the station's contribution to the Kirkop community. He explained that the relocation required a complete overhaul of infrastructure, enabling the station to continue operating with improved facilities, greater comfort, and more innovative resources.

The project primarily involved the construction of a fully equipped studio, including all relevant technical accessories and complementary furnishings.

Zammit concluded by stating that the work carried out not only reflects a strong spirit of volunteerism, but will also continue to motivate further voluntary initiatives within the Kirkop community.
