A trailer has skidded on the Regional Road, southbound lane, hitting a pole which collapsaed onto the northbound carriageway, effectively blocking other vehicles from proceeding in both directions.

The accident happened just after 2.15pm.

The trailer skidded as it approached the bend close to the petrol station in the area, gojng towards the south.

It crashed into the roadside barriers and hit an electricity pole which has collapsed onto the northbound carriageway. The vehicle came to rest across the width of the road.

Traffic has accumulated on both sides of the road.

Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.
