A 13-year-old student was slightly injured after being allegedly attacked by a fellow student with a sharp object at a school in Gozo, the police have confirmed.
Both students were 13-years-old, and this newsroom was told that the injury is very minor.
In a statement, the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation, in a statement, said that an incident occurred between two students at an educational institution in Gozo.
"The school officials intervened immediately to ensure that the situation was under control and to ensure the safety of all students."
"The health and safety of children and young people in the educational environment has been, and remains, an absolute priority for the Ministry. The Police are investigating to determine the circumstances of the case and to ensure that all necessary measures are taken," the ministry said.
The Ministry said that in December an Advisory Board was appointed with the aim of offering strategic and operational recommendations to the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation regarding a Behaviour Control Framework. "This ensures that any implementation is aligned with national legislation, educational standards, and also the principles of the well-being of students and educators, in accordance with the National Education Strategy," the ministry said.
