The much-anticipated Maltese music festival Mużika Mużika, organised by Festivals Malta, will celebrate its sixth edition and will take place between 19 and 21 March 2026.
Preparations for the festival have now reached their final phase, with intensive work underway by the production team, technicians, and the artists themselves.
The Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, together with Festivals Malta, announced that tickets for this musical event are now on sale and can be purchased from the website www.muzikamuzika.mt.
"Mużika Mużika is not just a competition, but a celebration of Maltese song, talent, and the dedication of many workers," said Dr Bonnici. He recalled the 112 songs released since the festival's inception and noted that this demonstrates the importance of Mużika Mużika in creating a significant musical legacy, particularly in relation to the Maltese language.
Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra said that, as in previous years, audiences both in the venue and watching from home can expect a top-quality spectacle. "Work is currently underway to once again offer a show of the highest standard and quality. We have a spectacular and unique stage, a live orchestra, and all-local artists who will undoubtedly come together for three days of surprises and family-friendly entertainment. Last year, 320,000 viewers followed the three nights, and this year we are expecting even more," said Mr Zahra.
Festivals Malta CEO Frans Agius announced that this year the format adopted last year will once again be used, with 16 finalist songs competing both on Thursday night and in the final on Saturday. "We are doing this so that the songs, which our artists work so hard on, can be enjoyed and given the recognition they deserve. I thank everyone involved in the festival, including the technicians, participants, orchestra, backing vocalists, presenters from this year and previous editions, and above all the staff of Festivals Malta. Without this professional team, Mużika Mużika would certainly not be what it is today."
Mużika Mużika Chairman Raymond Bugeja explained that on Thursday 19 March, voting will be open to the audience in the hall together with the professional jury. On Saturday 21 March, televoting will take place as usual and will be open to both the hall audience and television viewers. Votes from Thursday will be added to those from the televoting and the professional jury during the final night. He also announced the team of presenters: Keith Demicoli, Ira Losco, Jacqui Losco, and Jamie Cardona.
Artistic Director Paul Abela explained that on Friday 20 March there will be the Classics Night. "As every year, several veteran singers will interpret classic songs that are sure to evoke nostalgia for all those who hold Maltese music close to their hearts. I wish every success to all singers, authors, and composers, and I thank them for their professionalism."
Mużika Mużika will be held at the MFCC in Ta' Qali and will also be broadcast live on television between 19 and 21 March 2026 at 9pm. Tickets for the live shows are now on sale.
