Maltese composers Kris Spiteri and Boris Čezek have achieved a historic milestone for Malta's performing arts sector. Their original musical The Monster Bride, written with playwright Brendan Cull and based on the novel Never the Bride by Paul Magrs, will be studied and performed at the internationally renowned Guildford School of Acting (GSA)in the United Kingdom.
This marks the first time in Malta's history that a musical composed by Maltese composers is being studied and staged within a UK postgraduate conservatoire programme.
Widely recognised as one of the UK's leading drama schools, the Guildford School of Acting is known for its rigorous training and strong industry reputation.
Spiteri and Čezek previously collaborated on Porn the Musical, which won Best New Musical at the Off West End Theatre Awards in London and was named Critic's Choice by Time Out London. Their continued creative partnership on The Monster Bride further reinforces the growing presence of Maltese artists within the global musical theatre landscape.
Interest in the UK presentation has been overwhelming, with the event already completely sold out.
