Launch of Vision 2050 ‘a new dream for Malta’ – PL

Saturday, 28 February 2026, 10:43 Last update: about 5 months ago

Yesterday marked the beginning of a new dream for Malta, the Labour Party said Saturday.

The launch of Vision 2050 is a historic moment in our nation's history, as it sets out an ambitious and transformative national plan that addresses the needs and aspirations of today, as well as those of tomorrow. Vision 2050 will respond to present-day Malta with immediate solutions, while preparing the country for the next 25 years, the PL said..

The Vision is built on four fundamental pillars: Sustainable Economic Growth; Accessible Services with the citizen at the centre; A Resilient Country with a Modern Education System; and Intelligent Use of Land and Sea.

While Malta's strong and resilient economy will continue to grow, with prosperity reaching more families, Vision 2050 places unique value on the quality of life of Maltese and Gozitan families.

Three principal indicators will guide our national progress: Life Satisfaction, Median Disposable Household Income, and the Level of Human and Social Development.

As Prime Minister Robert Abela stated, Vision 2050 will deliver tangible, positive change for our people - for our pensioners, students, the self-employed, all workers across the country, and the businesses that are so vital to our economy.

Vision 2050 is not an abstract document, but a concrete set of measures that will directly impact our citizens. This is a vision focused on sustainable economic growth, with emphasis on quality rather than quantity, the PL said.

The Labour Party noted with satisfaction that more than 400 organisations participated in the consultation process, recognising the importance of this document and submitting their proposals to strengthen hope for a better future for Malta. Vision Malta 2050 is a national invitation: to build together a stronger, fairer and more prosperous country - today and for the generations to come.
