Former President and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami has been discharged from hospital, two days after being admitted for observation following health complications.
Fenech Adami, 92, served as Prime Minister from 1987 to 1996 and again from 1998 to 2004. He is widely regarded as the key political figure behind Malta's path to European Union membership.
A few months after stepping down from parliament in 2004, he was appointed President of Malta, serving a five-year term.
Considered one of the most influential leaders in Malta's political history, Fenech Adami led the Nationalist Party from 1977. His son, Beppe Fenech Adami, remains a Nationalist MP.
