The Sliema Local Council has announced that enforcement action is under way against illegal ticket booths operating along The Strand and other parts of the promenade, with operators given until Thursday 16 April to remove the structures.

In a Facebook post, the council said police are currently affixing official notices on the booths, warning that any structures still in place after the deadline will be forcibly removed.

The council said the action is being taken in line with Subsidiary Legislation 441.12, which was published in September 2025 and regulates the use of public space, including a prohibition on such structures without the necessary authorisation.

The local council welcomed the move, describing it as an important step towards restoring order and ensuring that public spaces remain free, accessible and in accordance with the law.

It also thanked the authorities for taking action and said it remains committed to safeguarding Sliema's public spaces.
