The government will be donating a fire blanket, along with an emergency manual, to all households in Malta and Gozo, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said Monday.

This initiative "places prevention at the core of national safety and reflects the Government's commitment to investing in Maltese and Gozitan families by providing them with the necessary tools to be more informed, better prepared, and ready to face emergency situations", a government statement said.

The emergency manual is a practical guide that includes information on fire prevention, first aid, and how to act in case of emergencies, including natural disasters. At the same time, every family will receive a fire blanket as an essential home safety tool, the statement said.

To ensure efficient distribution, a nationwide programme will be implemented across all localities, where Civil Protection fire engines will be present so that citizens can collect their fire blanket, while fire stations will open at dedicated times for the public.

The project was carried out in collaboration between the Civil Protection Department and other entities, including the Malta Police Force and the health sector. The Government stressed that this collaboration is crucial to strengthening national resilience and the ability to respond promptly and effectively. In the coming weeks, further investments in civil protection will continue to be announced, along with improvements in workers' conditions.
