A 22-year-old motorcyclist from Nadur sustained grievous injuries following a traffic collision in Birkirkara earlier today.

The police said they were alerted to the incident on Mrieħel Cross Road at approximately 7.30am.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the crash involved a Ford Transit van driven by a 45-year-old man from Mġarr and a Benelli Leoncino motorcycle.

A medical team and an ambulance arrived at the scene shortly after, transporting the motorcyclist to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. He was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
