Four men have been arrested in connection with a series of residential burglaries involving a substantial amount of stolen valuables, following what police described as intensive investigations over the past days.

Authorities said that the suspects are believed to form part of two separate groups allegedly involved in the thefts, which targeted multiple homes across different localities.

The first arrests were carried out around midday yesterday in St Paul's Bay, where police surrounded and apprehended two Colombian nationals aged 26 and 23. The pair are considered the main suspects in a burglary that took place at a residence in Swieqi.

Earlier today, the two men were arraigned in court before Magistrate Dr Abigail Critien. They pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them and were remanded in custody at the Corradino Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.

In a separate operation yesterday, at around 5:45pm, police arrested two Maltese men aged 51 and 41 in Żejtun. Investigators suspect that this pair is linked to a string of burglaries carried out in several localities, including Santa Luċija, Żabbar, Xgħajra, Kalkara, and Tarxien.

The two Maltese suspects are expected to be charged in court in the coming days.
