A 35-year-old man from Swieqi has been hospitalized with serious injuries following an explosion in Msida earlier today, the police said.

The accident occurred at approximately 9.20am in a garage located on Triq il-Kunċizzjoni.

Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that the man was inside the garage when an explosion took place, which subsequently triggered a fire.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were dispatched to the scene to provide immediate assistance and extinguish the flames.

The victim was transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where his injuries were later confirmed to be of a serious nature.

Magistrate  Monica Borg Galea has been informed of the case and has appointed an inquiry to determine the cause of the blast. Police investigations are ongoing.
