The Nationalist Party launched its list of candidates through an address by its leader Alex Borg on Tuesday afternoon. Borg said that his team is "full of energy, experience, and love for Malta and Gozo."

Following the closure of electoral nominations on Monday, Borg gave a brief address on Tuesday with all PN candidates sat behind him.

He spoke about the timing of this early election and the values that the PN wants to present through its policies, should the electorate entrust it to govern the country.

The PN Leader opened his address by mentioning the early announcement of this general election. He commented that this general election is coming a year early, "when we certainly are not facing an international crisis."

Borg said that this general election was announced by Prime Minister Robert Abela in a bid for him and his Labour Party to retain their seats of power, rather than truly out of the national interest as the Prime Minister has repeatedly told the general public.

Borg said that he and the PN's listed candidates are determined to lead Malta in the right direction and that the Nationalist Party will implement all that it promises.

He said that in the party's view, "Malta must be resilient and forward-looking" and that the PN still has much left to announce over the coming weeks, including the announcement of "new economic niches" that the PN wishes to bring into the country.

The Nationalist Party Leader listed some central priorities that his party aims to accomplish through its electoral manifesto, such as fostering a Malta where native families choose to grow their families here; for youths to "have the opportunity" to become homeowners; for families to be placed at the heart of policies across the Maltese islands; for people to work to live, rather than vice-versa; to guarantee good health; and to see that people have enough money in their pockets to cope with the increasing cost of living.

He said that all his party's proposals were done through the help of experts, professionals, and technocrats who wish to see a better Malta.

"If you are a first-time voter, if you haven't decided yet, if you've always voted for one party, now is your chance to decide the direction the country is headed - whether you want old politics or fresh politics that will give Malta and Gozo a new breath," Borg said.
