Man who breached bail conditions jailed after curfew violation

Monday, 18 May 2026, 12:16 Last update: about 4 months ago

A man has been handed a four-month prison sentence for violating five separate sets of bail conditions previously issued by different magistrates.

Abdulaziz Mohammed Alamari Zamzam was spotted by authorities in St Julian's between 1am and 2am on April 13, directly flouting a court-mandated curfew. When initially questioned by police, Zamzam falsely claimed he had received official court authorisation to be outside during those hours.

Once in court, he admitted to the charges. While the magistrate considered his early guilty plea during sentencing, the court emphasised that his actions carried severe consequences, particularly because he had abused the trust placed in him when granted bail under strict terms.

In addition to the four-month jail term, Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici ordered Zamzam to forfeit €5,250 in bail deposits tied to his various past legal cases.
