Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Robert Abela said the Labour Party has a strong and credible plan for the country which, he insisted, would be implemented because it is carefully studied and because the party keeps its word.
Addressing a mass rally organised by the Labour Party in Qormi, Abela appealed to the Maltese and Gozitan people to unite behind Labour on 30 May in order to secure a better future for the country.
The Labour leader said the party's proposals are aimed at making people's lives easier, better and more beautiful.
Referring to Labour's electoral manifesto, "Int Malta", Abela said the document was designed to support people at every stage of their lives and pointed to the various forms of assistance being proposed.
He said the Labour movement embraces people-centred politics and had removed the word "austerity" from the country's political vocabulary.
Abela argued that a Labour administration is in a position to implement its proposals because it has kept the economy strong.
The Prime Minister also referred to the Labour team of candidates, describing them as competent, credible and full of fresh ideas.
He expressed his wish for the next five years to be years in which prosperity is shared more widely among the population.
On healthcare, Abela said a Labour government would continue to stand by the people through policies focused on prevention. On security, he pledged what he described as the largest investment ever to ensure Malta remains among the safest countries in the world.
Turning to the economy, Abela promised an evolution of Malta's economic model towards one based on higher added value, in line with the Vision Malta 2050 strategy.
On transport, he said Labour was presenting the only realistic plan, while on energy he insisted that a Labour administration has a long-term vision that others "cannot even come close to".
Abela pledged that every commitment made by Labour to the people would be honoured from beginning to end, saying the party had presented a "crystal clear" manifesto.
