The Electoral Commission said that the approximate voter turnout by 2pm on Tuesday among Assistant Electoral Commissioners and Police Officers eligible to vote ahead of election day stood at 43.39%.

In a statement, the commission said that 2,960 votes had been cast by 2pm out of a total of 6,821 registered voters.

Those voting on Tuesday were Assistant Electoral Commissioners and Police Officers who will be carrying out duties on election day and are therefore unable to vote on the day of the general election itself.

The Electoral Commission described the figures as approximate turnout figures up to 2pm on Tuesday, 26 May.
