To mark the beginning of this year's festa season, the Malta Pyrotechnic Association (MPA) is launching 16 professional STEM-based video lectures that provide a detailed understanding behind pyrotechnic art, exploring areas like pyro-chemistry, physics, digital technology, environmental responsibility, and health and safety.

Partly financed by the National STEM Community Fund, this initiative is open to the general public, including science students, who can register on the platform, follow lessons, complete assignments, and actively participate in discussions.

These lectures form part of a custom-designed e-learning platform accessible via the Malta Pyrotechnic Association website.

The Maltese islands' festa season kicks off in the coming days and will run for 18 weeks. Over this period, more than 70 feasts will be celebrated across Malta and Gozo.

This course is split into three sections. Participants who successfully complete all requirements will be awarded a certificate. Interested individuals may access the course, after registering or signing in, at: https://academy.maltapyro.org/.

In recent months, the MPA has undertaken several initiatives, including collaboration with regulatory authorities to promote safer and evidence-based good practices within the sector. The Association stated that its core values focus on safety and community engagement, with a strong commitment to enhancing technical knowledge while maintaining the highest health and safety standards.

Through education and advocacy, the Malta Pyrotechnic Association seeks to reduce risks associated with fireworks manufacturing and display, while celebrating the artistry, social dimension, and cultural significance of Maltese pyrotechnics.
