Three people were hospitalised following a traffic accident in Attard on Tuesday afternoon, with one of those three facing life threatening injuries.
Police said they were informed of the collision at around 1.30pm in Triq Vjal l-Istadium Nazzjonali, Attard.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident involved a Honda Fit driven by a 51-year-old woman from Mtarfa and a Renault Arkana driven by a 51-year-old man from Marsaskala. An 11-year-old boy, also from Marsaskala, was travelling as a passenger in the Renault.
A medical team and ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and all three individuals were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
The woman was later certified as having suffered serious injuries, while the man sustained grievous injuries. The condition of the 11-year-old boy has not yet been made known.
Police investigations into the circumstances of the accident are ongoing.
