After hinting that she would quit politics following last weekend's general election, ADPD leader Sandra Gauci has apparently had a change of heart after the support she said she received since making that announcement.
On Sunday, in an Instagram post she said that she was satisfied with her own result but criticised the gender quota mechanism, which will exclude her from Parliament.
Gauci received 594 votes on the sixth district and 950 votes in the 12th.
"They say you should leave at the top, and that's 99% what I'm going to do," she said.
While Gauci did not commit to resigning as ADPD leader, she made it clear that she will be taking a break from politics.
Yet, on Wednesday morning, Gauci wrote on Facebook that after the support she received "which left her speechless", she said that she will not remain quiet.
"You have one coming if you think I will accept anything thrown at me without replying," she said.
"From Monday I will continue my work (as a councillor) for the people of St Paul's Bay. I assure them I am still in the council in the same way I am still chairperson of ADPD."
In a statement on Wednesday, ADPD said that during the first meeting of its executive committee after the election, a vote of confidence in Gauci was unanimously approved.
