The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Anġlu Farrugia, has launched a new publication titled Sette Giugno: Il-Leħen tal-Poplu (The Voice of the People). The launch took place during a ceremony in the Parliament of Malta foyer, following the official speech and wreath-laying ceremony at the Sette Giugno monument in St George's Square, Valletta.

During his address, the Speaker emphasised that Sette Giugno should not be viewed merely as an annual commemoration, but rather as a living chapter in the national conscience. He described it as a chapter that recalls the sacrifice, courage, and collective cry of the Maltese people for justice, dignity, and fairer representation.

The publication compiles the Sette Giugno commemorative speeches he delivered between 2013 and 2025. It serves as a testament to how Parliament has consistently honored this crucial moment in Malta's constitutional and democratic history year after year. The book pays tribute not only to the four victims-Carmelo Abela, Giuseppe Bajada, Manwel Attard, and Wenzu Dyer-but also to the Maltese public who suffered, stood up, and demanded that their voice be heard.

Farrugia reiterated that Parliament has a duty to look beyond just passing legislation; it must safeguard the country's historical memory, give it the dignity it deserves, and pass it on to future generations as a legacy of civic and democratic responsibility.

The Speaker concluded by stating that this publication should serve as an invitation for Malta to always remember that its democracy was not born from words alone, but from tangible sacrifices, and that the voice of the people must always continue to be heard at the heart of national institutions.
