The second edition of the 10km L-Istrina Palace Run will take place on 14 June, with the scope of raising vital funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund. While last year's inaugural edition connected Verdala Castle to San Anton Palace, this year's 10-kilometre route will guide participants from San Anton Palace all the way to the President's Palace in Valletta.

Speaking at a press conference at San Anton Palace, President Myriam Spiteri Debono said that the Malta Community Chest Fund receives requests for help throughout the entire year, reflecting a constant increase in changing medical conditions and illnesses, which means the need for funding continues to grow year after year.

Major Richard Vassallo, who came up with the initiative, explained that the idea grew from athletes wanting a dedicated event alongside the annual President's Solidarity Walk. Following the success of the first edition, the run has now earned an official spot on the Maltese athletics calendar.

Joe Micallef, the main organiser of the Malta Marathon, who is coordinating the race, noted that registration numbers are highly encouraging. Building on last year's turnout of nearly 800 people, Micallef emphasised that the event is not just for elite athletes and encouraged hobbyists and casual runners to sign up.

Tickets are available on maltamarathon.com.

The event is supported by Malta's disciplined forces, including the Police Force, the Armed Forces of Malta, LESA, and Transport Malta, alongside several commercial sponsors including Eurosport, the Social Causes Fund, Fort Fitness, The Farsons Foundation, MCP Car Park, and Star Fruit Limited.
