Four senior public officials have been appointed as new Permanent Secretaries following the formation of the new Cabinet, as the government published its list of Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday.
Ramon Deguara, formerly Director General of the Cleansing and Maintenance Division, has been appointed Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for Accommodation and Lands.
Stephanie Rocco, who previously served as Director General at the Ministry for Inclusion and Volunteering, has been named Permanent Secretary in the same ministry.
Emil Vassallo, formerly Director General of the Local Government Division, has been appointed Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for Local Government and Public Works, while Keith Bartolo, who served as Director General at the Institute for Public Services, has been appointed Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for Youth, Wellbeing and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme.
Tony Sultana will continue serving as Principal Permanent Secretary and Head of the Public Service, while Joyce Cassar will retain responsibility for People and Standards within the Office of the Prime Minister.
A number of experienced Permanent Secretaries have also been reassigned across government ministries.
Renzo Degabriele has been assigned to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Ministry for Health, while Mark Musù will serve within the Ministry for Social Policy and the Family.
Sharlo Camilleri has been assigned to the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Security, and Godwin Mifsud to the Ministry for the Economy, Technology and Strategic Projects.
Mario Borg will continue his work within the Ministry for Gozo, while Matthew Vella has been assigned to the Ministry for Education and Sport.
Joseph F. Caruana will serve as Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for Energy, the Environment and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour, and Paul Zahra has been assigned to the Ministry for Finance.
Johan Galea will oversee administrative leadership within the Ministry for Justice, Research and Innovation, while Ronald Mizzi has been appointed to the Ministry for Infrastructure, Planning and Works.
Further appointments include Bjorn Callus taking up responsibility within the Ministry for Sustainable Mobility, Christopher Cutajar serving within the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, and Jonathan Vassallo appointed at the Ministry for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection.
Joyce Dimech has been assigned to the Ministry for Home Affairs and Security, while Emanuel Psaila will serve within the Ministry for Equality and Civil Rights.
Carlos Tabone has been entrusted with responsibility for two ministerial portfolios, serving as Permanent Secretary for both the Ministry for Tourism and the Ministry for Arts, Culture and the National Heritage, making him the only Permanent Secretary overseeing more than one ministry.
There were also only three women who were appointed Permanent Secretaries, namely Joyce Cassar, Stephanie Rocco and Joyce Dimech.
