Around 800 people took part in the second edition of the 10km L-Istrina Palace Run on Sunday, with participants running from St Anthony’s Palace to the Presidential Palace in Valletta in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund.
The event attracted a wide range of participants, from competitive athletes to casual runners, as well as children and elderly participants. The leading runners completed the route in just over 30 minutes.
At the end of the race, all participants were awarded commemorative medals, while the top three finishers in each category received an image of the Presidential Palace in Valletta presented by President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono.
Addressing those present, President Spiteri Debono thanked participants for supporting the cause and highlighted the growing demand for assistance provided by The Malta Community Chest Fund.
She said the fund continues to receive a steady number of requests for help each year, noting that its support extends beyond financial aid to include social and psychological assistance for patients and their families.
The event, first launched in 2025 following an idea by Major Richard Vassallo, was organised by Joe Micallef and the Malta Marathon team, with the support of volunteers.
Members of the Police Force, the Armed Forces of Malta, LESA and Transport Malta assisted with traffic management and safety along the route.
