Two fires were reported in St Julian's within a space of a few hours.

Last night, members of the Civil Protection Department were called for assistance following a fire in a shop in Gort Street.

A person needed to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Nobody was then injured when a fire broke out this morning at an abandoned building in Paceville, the police said.

The fire was reported just after 8.30am at the former Bamboo club.

CPD personnel were again called in to put out the blaze.
