Two men were injured in a fall in a shaft in Marsaskala on Tuesday, the police said Wednesday.

Police said were called to assist at an apartment block on Triq l-Aħmar, Marsaskala, yesterday afternoon at approximately 2.30p.#m.

Preliminary investigations revealed that two Syrian men, aged 26 and 18, were working in a shaft when they fell.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and a medical team were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance. Both men were subsequently transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where they were certified to have sustained grievous injuries.

Police investigations, as well as those by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, are ongoing.
