Birkirkara mayor Desirei Grech welcomed all registered cat feeders in Birkirkara and presented each of them with a voucher together with cat food as a token of appreciation for their dedication and continuous care of the locality's stray cats.
This initiative was made possible through the success of another community project organized by the Birkirkara Local Council earlier this year, during which a throft room was established to collect and resell donated clothing. The proceeds from these sales were specifically earmarked to support the welfare of stray cats in Birkirkara, enabling the Council to provide this support to the registered feeders.
During the event, Grech also announced that the Council will be creating a dedicated cat lane, where new cat shelters will be installed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the locality's community cats. The project forms part of the Council's ongoing commitment to improving animal welfare while ensuring that stray cats are cared for in a responsible and organized manner.
