Prime Minister Robert Abela, together with Labour Party Deputy Leaders Ian Borg and Alex Agius Saliba, voted Tuesday evening at the end of the first session of the Extraordinary General Conference held by the Labour Party.
The General Conference is being held according to the statute, which states that after every general election, delegates must confirm the party leadership, that is Prime Minister Robert Abela as Party Leader, Ian Borg as Deputy Leader for Parliamentary Affairs, and Alex Agius Saliba as Deputy Leader for Party Affairs.
It is a foregone conclusion that the three will be confirmed with an overwhelming majority of votes.
Voting will continue Wednesday between 9am and 8pm at the Labour Party Headquarters, as well as at the Labour Centre at Ta' Sannat, Gozo, between 4pm and 7pm.
At the end of the voting process, the counting process will take place at the Labour Party Head Quarters.
Earlier Tuesday, the Extraordinary General Conference themed "INT Malta: Il-Ħolma tiegħek, il-Proġett tagħna" kicked off and was addressed by Gabriel Sciberras, Marlene Cini, Charles Mangion, Mario Cutajar, Deborah Schembri, Ramona Attard, and Michael Falzon, all of whom referred to the Labour Party's work and the party's future vision.
The Extraordinary General Conference will conclude on Thursday, 2 July, with an address by Prime Minister and Labour Party Leader Robert Abela, Deputy Leaders Ian Borg and Alex Agius Saliba, as well as PL President Alex Sciberras, who is chairing the General Conference.
