A 63-year-old motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries following a traffic accident in Xagħra, Gozo, this afternoon, the police said.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:15pm in Vjal it-8 ta' Settembru. Preliminary police investigations indicate that a collision took place between a Toyota Yaris, driven by a 24-year-old man from Rabat, and a Yamaha Dragstar XVS650 motorcycle, ridden by the 63-year-old local resident.
A medical team was dispatched to the scene, and the motorcyclist was transported to the Gozo General Hospital by ambulance. He was later certified to be suffering from serious injuries.
Magistrate Jean Paul Grech has been informed of the case and has launched a magisterial inquiry. Police investigations into the circumstances of the accident are ongoing.
