Planning appeals reform is proof that government listens and delivers – PL

The Labour Party in government delivers what it promises, and in less than 100 days it has already tabled another important reform in Parliament that will lead to "fairer, clearer, and more effective planning", the PL said Thursday.

This is another sign of the drive and energy of the Labour Party in Government, following the historic fourth mandate granted to it by the people. The Labour Party welcomes this reform as another courageous step by a government that is not afraid to take decisions in favour of what is fair toward private individuals or organizations appealing against development, or toward the applicant themselves, the statement said.

This reform demonstrates that the Government truly listens to everyone's voice, so much that it will be opening a public consultation process to hear from stakeholders, organizations, associations, and private citizens who have a particular interest in this reform.

While the Nationalist Party, when it was in power, took an area of land the size of Siġġiewi and designated it for development, a Labour government is introducing the necessary checks and balances to ensure that everyone's interests are truly protected, the PL said.
