An elderly man who had been reported missing was found injured after falling in a field, the Civil Protection Department said Wednesday.

Rescue teams from Stations 3, 7, and 8 launched a swift operation late last night in the rugged terrain between Mġarr and Ġnejna after receiving urgent reports of a missing 83-year-old man.

Working in close coordination with the Malta Police Force, emergency responders combed the area and successfully located the elderly man within just 90 minutes of the initial call.

He had suffered a fall into a remote field, sustaining injuries that required immediate attention.

Rescuers safely extracted him from the difficult location and handed him over to the Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department medical team for urgent care and transport to the hospital.

The Civil Protection Department has expressed its gratitude to the police and medical personnel for their exceptional cooperation, emphasizing how vital inter-agency teamwork is in saving lives.
