Daphne Caruana Galizia’s sister launched a scathing commentary on some witnesses in the trial on the journalist’s murder, describing them as a “stream of pathetic men” who “break down into pseudo-tears” about how the trial has affected them.

The jury trial against Yorgen Fenech, who stands accused of complicity in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, entered its 34th day on Saturday as star witness and self-confessed murder middleman Melvin Theuma continued his testimony.

Daphne’s sister Mandy Mallia however posted on Friday morning – prior to Theuma starting his testimony – remarking that in the past few weeks “we have witnessed a stream of pathetic men – - it’s always a certain type of man, isn’t it? - break down into pseudo-tears.”

She lambasted how they speak of how ‘this’ – which she noted was “their own actions or lack thereof, really” – “has affected THEM, with absolutely no remorse (except for how the outfall of Daphne’s murder (as distinct from Daphne’s murder itself) affected THEM).”

“No nous, and no shame in fake-crying in front of the men and other members of our family who have no doubt had to deal with the greatest loss of all (apart from that suffered by Daphne herself): that of seeing Daphne murdered, the inevitable outfall, and their having to sit in court for the past nine years surrounded by assorted murderers, other criminals and those who backed - and still back - said criminals,” she said.

“No kind of ‘justice’ is ‘good enough’ for such beings, but may justice for Daphne be served with the full strength of the law; anything less is to kill her over again,” she added.
