A structure fire broke out in a street-level garage in Żebbuġ on Thursday, prompting the evacuation of nearby residents as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

The Civil Protection Department said firefighters from Stations 1, 3, 4, 5 and 8 were deployed to the scene, where the garage contained vehicles powered by internal combustion engines (ICE).

The fire was successfully extinguished, with firefighters now carrying out cooling and ventilation procedures to ensure the premises are safe.

A medical team from the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital, Transport Malta officials and police officers from the 6th District also assisted with the operation.

Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution while emergency crews dealt with the fire.

The Civil Protection Department said further information would be provided as it becomes available.
