Home Affairs Minister Glenn Bedingfield said on Monday that 57 people have been arrested across Marsa, Ħamrun, and Paola following police investigations into illegal immigration and human trafficking.

Minister Bedingfield said that from these 57 persons, 17 were arrested in Ħamrun, 35 were detained in Marsa, and the remaining five were taken away by law enforcement in Paola.

He shared this news through his Facebook page, stating that these arrests were made following an investigation and "coordinated work" by local immigration police and the Detention Services Agency.

"This is ongoing work being done in the fight against human trafficking and illegal immigration," Minister Bedingfield said.

The Home Affairs Minister added that the persons detained were all foreigners coming from parts of South America, Africa, and Asia.
