Archbishop Charles Scicluna day joined the family of Daphne Caruana Galizia for a private moment of prayer and remembrance on Friday, marking nine years since the journalist was assassinated, the Archdiocese said on its Facebook page.
The short service included a reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes, followed by a blessing imparted by the Archbishop. Harpist Jacob Portelli provided musical accompaniment during the gathering.
The prayers also remembered Caruana Galizia's mother, Rose Vella, who died in 2023.
The gathering gave Archbishop Scicluna an opportunity to express his continued solidarity with the family in their quest for full justice for the murder of Caruana Galizia, who was a mother, wife, sister and daughter, the Archdiocese said.
The moment of reflection honoured both Daphne and her mother, bringing the family together in prayer on an anniversary that continues to mark one of the darkest chapters in Malta's recent history.
Caruana Galizia was killed by a car bomb in Bidnija on October 16, 2017. Her assassination sent shockwaves through Malta and internationally, and the pursuit of full justice for her murder remains a central concern for her family.
