Mater Dei Hospital’s pre-hospital emergency teams faced a demanding day yesterday, managing two simultaneous and complex rescue operations across different parts of the island, the hospital said on its Facebook page.

The first accident took place in Mellieħa, where emergency personnel responded after a person suffered injuries from a fall from a height onto a parked vehicle.

Concurrently, a second emergency unfolded in a remote area near Għar Lapsi, where a patient suffered severe heat exhaustion.

Due to the challenging terrain, the individual was treated and stabilised on-site before being transferred to a Civil Protection Department Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) and safely conveyed to a waiting emergency ambulance.

The coordinated responses mobilised a robust cross-section of emergency resources, including Emergency Ambulances, Emergency Physician Support Units (EPSU), Emergency Nurse Response teams, and Rapid Basic Life Support (RBLS) units.

Authorities extended their gratitude to Civil Protection Malta, The Malta Police Force, and the Malta Red Cross for their vital assistance and seamless inter-agency collaboration during both operations.
