A 16-year-old boy was grievously injured after falling down a flight of stairs in St Julian's early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at around 4am in Triq San Ġorġ, when police were informed that assistance was required.

Police officers went to the scene, where it emerged that the teenager had fallen down the stairs.

A medical team provided assistance before he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

He was later certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
