Updated: Three-car crash in Santa Venera leaves young driver dead

A 26-year-old man died in a traffic collision involving three vehicles this afternoon in St Joseph High Road in Santa Venera.

The victim was later named as Francesco Brincat.

Police arrived immediately at the scene following reports of the crash, which involved a Mazda Demio, a Nissan X-Trail, and a Mercedes Benz C250. The impact caused the Mazda to overturn completely.

The Nissan was driven by a 49-year-old Canadian man residing in San Ġwann, with a 43-year-old South Korean woman also residing in San Ġwann as his passenger. The Mercedes was driven by a 46-year-old man living in Pietà, while the overturned Mazda was driven by a 26-year-old man from Marsa.

Civil Protection officers and a medical team were dispatched to the location to provide assistance. Tragically, the 26-year-old driver of the Mazda was certified dead at the scene. None of the other individuals involved sustained any injuries.

Duty Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea was informed of the incident and has appointed an inquiry, while Police investigations remain ongoing.
